So after a lot of complications, a basic functioning version of Android 2.1 has now been ported to the HD2. Keep in mind that some features do not work, but that they are working on updates as we speak (follow htc-linux on twitter for updates). For those that are weary of flashing different OS’s on to their devices, fear not because the Android ports do not actually replace the current OS on your HD2. Instead they run through a program called Haret so if you soft reset the phone (push the little red button under the battery cover with a stylus), you are quickly back to your original Windows Mobile OS. Enough with the talking about it, here’s how to get it:
I. Run Android on Your HTC HD2
1. Download Android for HTC HD2
Android for HTC HD2 (it’s the first link under Builds > Android)(it is a 7zip file so you may need to download WinRAR to unzip it. Will upload a regular .zip file ASAP)
2. Plug your phone in via USB cable and mount the sd card so you can transfer files to it.
3. Extract the Android HD2 .zip file and copy all of the contents on to the root of your sd card in your phone.
4. Unplug the phone.
5. Go to File Explorer on your phone and then find the files you just transferred to the sdcard.
6. Double click on Haret.exe. Done! (To get back to Windows Mobile, simply do a soft reset by pushing the little red button under the battery cover).
Enjoy!
Thanks @HTC_Linux!
